After the Wildcats Pounce Badgers 33-31, An Open Letter to The Chicago Sun-Times Editors

About 17 days ago, 9-0 Iowa was called “the best in the Big Ten.” They were heavy favorites over NU.

NU 17, Iowa 10.

About 10 days ago, many were calling 3-6 Illinois the “hottest” team in the Big Ten. They were were favored over 6-4 NU.

NU 21, Illinois 16.

And about 3 days ago, many predicted that NU would get beaten by the Badgers. Some, like the Chicago Sun-Times Jim O’Donnell still considered the Wildcats to be a joke.

NU 33, Wisconsin 31. This made the Wildcats 8-4 and 4th in the Big Ten.

The last tirade by O’Donnell prompted me to write the following letter to the editors of the Sun-Times. (Many thanks to LakeThePosts for pointing out the latest tirade.)

An open letter to The Sun-Times Editors, submitted 22 November 2009:

Jim O'Donnell's recent tirades against the Northwestern Wildcats football team (e.g. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/colleges/1896653,CST-SPT-nu21.article) would be better suited for a fan blog rather than a major metropolitan newspaper. I went to Northwestern, played in the NU Marching Band (NUMB), and graduated with a degree in Physics. I didn't go to J-School, but even I know the difference between writing for a professional publication and ranting in a blog. If you need to see something with a bias, but still within the bounds of both good taste and sanity, read my football blog (www.northwesternmix.com). Mr. O'Donnell's continuously insulting ramblings are not professional enough to be representing your paper.

I’ll let people know if I get a reply.
