Cardiac ‘Cats Boot Indiana, Stop the Hearts of Thousands of Fans

Guys, You’re Going to Kill Me - This was once again about a 40 minute effort. Again the Wildcats spotted their foe a bunch of points (25 this time), then decided to get serious. 28-3 is a pretty big deficit, especially when you throw 3 picks. But the ‘Cardiac Cats didn’t panic and simply ground out (or actually mostly aired out) 26 more points - the winning last three coming with less than a minute left. This leaves them with a 5-3 record and within striking distance of a bowl game.

The Homecoming game was really hard to watch. The heartbreak of the first quarter and change, the long climb back into the game, the near last second kick by Demos, and the literal last second kick by Indiana. When I’m a 100 years old this sort of game is going to kill me.

There were some really good things about the game - NU showed a little bit of a running game, they didn’t give up, and despite the turnovers NU didn’t lose their poise. Oh yeah, there was a scoring strike that was over 20 yards. There were a lot of things to cheer about - especially the final score.

Penn State Look Ahead - The Wildcats cannot afford to spot the Nittany Lions any points. And they have to show up and play 60 minutes. No turnovers either. Sounds pretty tough to me, but it can be done. A win over the Nittany Lions would make NU bowl eligible - and also more salable.

If the ‘Cats do everything right, they can win 31-28. If they skip the first or last 15 minutes, it won’t be pretty. Let’s hope both the offense and the defense show up from the get-go and play a full 60 minutes (or more).

Go ‘Cats!
