Who Wins - Wildcats or Gophers?

Who will win on Saturday? Wildcats? Or Gophers?

If this was the Discovery Channel, I think we’d all agree that a ferocious Wildcat would easily gobble up an obnoxious rodent. But this is Big Ten football and we’re dealing with a Wildcat team that just lost to a lesser team.

That said, the Wildcats have gotten pretty good at putting the past behind them. They are smart and mature enough to learn from the many mistakes of last week, correct them, and move on.

Minnesota might not be so well equipped to deal with recovering from losses. Losing to the Wildcats last year seemed to unravel the Gophers. That’s got to weigh on the Gopher’s minds.

So who wins? Once again it depends on which NU team shows up to play. If it is the NU team that played the last three quarters last week, the Wildcats win. If it’s the team that slept through the first quarter of the game against Syracuse, then a lot of the crowd will leave after NUMB performs.

So the key to winning is to play at top speed a full 60 minutes (plus overtime if needed). The ‘Cats can’t coast at either end of the game. Fortunately, I think they can play that hard that long. I think NU corrects last week’s mistakes and beats the Gophers: NU 36 - MN 17.

Go ‘Cats! (Get it done!)
