Being a Northwestern fan can be heartbreaking. It seems like even in the best of years there’s at least one loss that seems stupid, unnecessary, or just makes you wince. I hope that Syracuse was that one loss this year.
People will look at the 37-34 final score, hear that NU lost on a last second field goal, and they will assume that the Wildcats lost the game at the very end. The reality was that NU lost the game in the first quarter by spotting Syracuse a 17-0 lead. Yes, NU battled back and even took the lead. But giving the Orangemen a three score early advantage was deadly. You can bet that every team from here on out will look at how Syracuse ran all over NU early and will use that against the ‘Cats.
Minnesota Golden Gophers are next. Stay tuned.
Go ‘Cats!
