Look Ahead To Syracuse - Will Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde Show Up?

Who wins the battle between the Purple and the Orange? I think the Wildcats will win. I just hope it isn’t a nail-biter.

Looking more deeply at the game, the ‘Cat’s fortunes rest on which team comes to play. Will it be the meek Dr. Jekyll - cautious and tentative? Or will it be the bloodthirsty Mr. Hyde - ravenous Wildcats ripping the Orangemen to shreds? In other words, will it be the team that played the first halves of the two games to date? You know, the one that outscored their foes 58-10 in the first halves. If that team shows up and plays a full 60 minutes, the ‘Cats will win and end up with a point total somewhere north of 35 while holding the Orange to low double digits. But if it is the tentative NU team that was playing to not lose at the end of the game, it could be a long night.

I think that the Wildcats will win. Hopefully the game will be exciting because the Wildcats will totally dominate the Orangemen and put a lot of points on the board. I’m not looking for the game to be exciting because NU is counting on a 50 yard field goal at the end of the game to pull out the win.

BTW, it is worth noting that the 2009 Orangemen have played more Big Ten teams than NU has to date. (NU will be the third straight Big Ten challenge for Syracuse. NU starts its Big Ten run next week.) Maybe this could be a prelude to Syracuse joining the Big Ten (12) as one of East Division’s six teams.

Looking ahead, I am considering going to Homecoming. I always enjoy marching as part of the NUMBAlums and screaming my support of NU football. Stay tuned.

Go ‘Cats!
